- Cash and Check will be accepted for quarterly payments only. (Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec, Jan/Feb/Mar, Apr/May/June).
- If you’d like to pay monthly, please set up auto-pay with your bank mailing a check or use Venmo (3% transaction fees may apply especially if you use your credit card).
- If you pay monthly, you will notice that you pay the same price each month, even though some months have five lessons and some have two lessons. I do tuition for the year like this to make bookkeeping easy!
- For a missed or forgotten payment, you will be asked to pay electronically. There is a three-day grace period, then a $15 late fee.
Entering the studio Come a few minute before your lesson to set up. If you are first on my schedule, please don’t come in more than five minutes early. Please bring all personal items to the studio, and use the studio bathroom only.
The “no makeup policy.” When you sign up for lessons, you are paying for a time in my schedule. If you miss your lesson, or come late, the time is over and gone.
Illness: if you’re too sick to Zoom, I will make it a priority to fit you in to another open space in my schedule, but it must be done within two weeks of your absence.
Schedule Conflicts: You may request to reschedule one lesson per school year for any schedule conflict (travel, other activity, etc.), but please give me at least 48 hours of notice. I can’t guarantee that my open spots will match your schedule. If you find yourself having more schedule conflicts than this, you may approach another family and ask them if they’d be willing to trade times with you. If you have an extended illness or family emergency/situation, I will work something out with you. If you are going to do extended travel during the school year, we will arrange to Zoom or figure something out.
Sick Policy. Wash hands with soap and water immediately before playing the violin. If you are coughing/sneezing badly, or if anyone in your house has had a high fever or stomach virus in the past 48 hours, we will Zoom.
Teacher Absences. I will teach over Zoom if possible, or re-schedule to a mutually convenient time. If I have an extended illness or emergency, I’ll credit the lesson fees to you.
Withdrawing from the studio. If you are moving and need to leave my studio, I assume you will let me know in advance. If you withdraw for any other reason mid-year, one month of tuition is due after the last lesson so I have time to fill the spot.
Adult students. Since my program is small and geared toward kids, I don’t enroll adults in this year-round program. I also don’t start adult beginners unless they are the parent of a current student who would like to learn violin alongside their child. (I know several colleagues who do a wonderful job with adult beginners and am happy to refer you!) I do love to teach experienced adult violinists who want to improve their playing. These lessons are scheduled much more flexibly, and are customized to meet your unique situation! No performances required, but my recitals are open to you if you wish to prepare something. I also require that we incorporate the Alexander Technique. You’ll see why. 🙂
