Lisa Toner Studio
Learn, move, and create well.
Hey there! My name is Lisa Toner. I offer Suzuki violin and viola lessons to children ages 4-18, chamber music coaching for teens, and Integrative Alexander Technique (AT) for teens and adults. My studio is located in Bellingham’s beautiful Whatcom Falls neighborhood.
2025-2026 school year update: I am capping my studio at two afternoons per week for the foreseeable future, so that I can have time for my own kids and some other career projects. I often start children between the age of 4-10 but I will take older beginners if they have time to practice 5x a week.

Teaching and connecting with students brings me great joy!
Having taught for more than 15 years, I have a wealth of experience and skill to share with you. I have trained with some of the best master teachers around, taught hundreds of students how to play the violin, given workshops all around the region, and am continually developing my skills and knowledge. The result is a unique, integrated approach that I tailor to each student. I deeply value each person I work with and enjoy helping them meet (and exceed) their goals!

A few testimonials…
I studied violin with Lisa for 7 years (ages 5−12) before she moved away. I learned so much from her. Everything about her lessons; from her wonderful teaching style, her positive and constructive feedback, to her constant patience and care, helped me become more than prepared for opportunities and challenges− both related and non-related to music. I hope you enjoy your time with her as much as I did mine!
Maia (violinist)
Lisa is an excellent teacher for many different types of students. She has extensive training and a very strong foundation in pedagogy and violin technique, but meets students where they are. Her goal is to instill a lifelong love of classical music. She makes lessons engaging and fosters a wonderful community atmosphere in the studio. My daughter studied with her for seven years until Lisa relocated to Bellingham, and grew immeasurably as a musician.
